The Plan the Keystone team is excited to begin work on the Downingtown Station Project. We look forward to working with PennDOT and the community to identify improvements to the station to improve access and passenger amenities. Improvements to be considered include a new platform, ticket office/waiting room, new passenger amenities and information displays, security systems, improved signage along Lancaster Avenue and Viaduct Avenue, a new pedestrian tunnel, and improvements to pedestrian ramps and sidewalks.
Do you have an idea about where the train station should be relocated? Feel free to share your comments below.
Stay tuned for upcoming public workshop dates and times where we will be looking for your input into the process!
Put the new station on the old Sonoco Paper property. That property needs redeveloped and it would be a fantastic location with easy access.

Whereever you decide to put the new station please include plans for redeveloping the old station site. The last thing Downingtown needs is an eye sore right in the middle of town. If this cannot be incorporated into the plan I say leave the station where it is and upgrade. You cannot leave the people on the west end of town with a large looking "dump site" when this is all said and done!

Move to Sonoco site, with better pedestrian access from the north side of the tracks, automated ticketing booths, better handicap access, amenities like coffee/newspaper booth, etc.

The sation is great right where it is. Perfect walking distance from my home. If it was relocated I would have to drive there.

Redevelopment of the existing location is an extremely exciting opportunity for Downingtown Borough! Many existing businesses and residences have planned their residence and business around the existing location. There is no need to move the train station. There is adequate space for expansion by using the existing space married with the redvelopment zone!

Keep the station where it is & make improvements including ramps.

This is the third time i have tried to post this. How about if we move the train station to an area that allows more parking and the ability to add handicap access but keep our existing station as a sub station which would allow access for people who have moved into this area because of the easy access to the train. This would minimize traffic and noise and satisfy all of the requirements needed for handicap accessability. granted it would add an additional stop but it could satisfy all parties concerned.

Put in an elevator to get to the platform to the concourse and to the street level on the east and west side of the tracks. Put in and underpass well that is also Conected to the elevator

Please keep the station where it is. Upgrading with new platform and indoor sales office & restrooms is an exxcellent idea!

Please create a walkable and safe environment when you build. Create a place that is beautiful where we can walk and has smoke free zones.

One of the few draws to the west end IS the train station! Many of the west-enders, moved here for easy walking distance to get the train. I agree with the majority of the above posts. Keep it in the West End, and incorporated in with the Keystone Redevelopment Plans. It does not flood UP here as it would downtown, nor do experience those traffic jams that exists on Brandywine avenue. Our vote is to move it to the west yard. But please do keep it in the West End. We don't want to be left with a vacant void here.

The Train Station should stay at it's original site or move it to the Amtrak yard.

Please do not move the train station to the River East or River West sites. The traffic woes of Brandywine Avenue and Boot Road will only be compounded by such a move. It will add yet another reason to my list of reasons to move away from Downingtown.
